The Kaiju Preservation Society

Satie drops Jamie, Aparna, Niamh, and Ardeleanu near Bella’s nest to plant scientific instruments. Satie says that this is his first time landing near a kaiju nest and that it would be best not to need to do an emergency extraction. Ardeleanu says that Bella is using her energy for her young and does not pose a danger. The group applies kaiju repellent, which makes them smell like parasites, and head to the nesting area. Aparna marvels at Bella, telling Jamie about kaijus’ complex biology. Tree crabs emerge as Aparna and Niamh set up the instruments, and Jamie and the others turn on very loud “screamers” to draw them away. Aparna and Niamh successfully plant the instruments and cameras and the group prepares to leave. Ardeleanu, however, falls, and a creature emerges from the natal jelly of Bella’s nest, attacking his leg. Niamh strikes the creature with her electric baton, shocking it. Though Ardeleanu claims he is fine, his leg is torn and Aparna treats him. Jamie calls Satie for an emergency extraction. When the creature attempts to attack again, Jamie throws an attracting canister, which draws hungry kaiju. It lands in the creature’s mouth, causing others to attack and eat the creature.
