McKay Coppins is currently a staff writer for The Atlantic. In 2012, he covered Mitt Romney’s second presidential campaign while working as a reporter for Buzzfeed. Like Romney, he is Mormon and attended Brigham Young University, where he served as the editor of the student newspaper. His 2015 book, The Wilderness: Deep Inside the Republican Party's Combative, Contentious, Chaotic Quest to Take Back the White House, received praise, but Romney: A Reckoning was generally reviewed as a more thorough examination of the political landscape.
